Mettler Toledo and Peak Scientific win Queen’s Award for Enterprise

Mettler Toledo Safeline and Peak Scientific were among the firms awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

For Mettler Toledo, it follows The Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade presented to it in 2012.

It was recognised for developing its family of Profile metal detection products.

Alan Purvis, managing director at Mettler Toledo Safeline, said the award recognises the expertise of the Safeline team.

“With over 100,000 systems installed globally, we have accumulated thousands of man-years of experience, which allows us to continuously improve our products and processes,” he said.

“On behalf of the global network of Mettler Toledo employees, I am proud that the company has received this prestigious award in recognition of its high performance products and commitment to innovation.”

The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is for British businesses and organisations that excel at trade, innovation or sustainable development.

Peak Scientific award

Peak Scientific was awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade and a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation.

It is Peak Scientific’s fifth Queen’s Award granted in recognition of the company’s international trade and overseas revenue growth, as well as a first in Innovation.

The laboratory gas generation specialist employs over 360 staff across 20 countries globally, with the majority at the manufacturing headquarters in Glasgow, Scotland.

Robin MacGeachy, Peak’s co-owner and managing director, said the honour was important.

“We’re especially delighted with the recognition for innovation, something that is in our DNA and core of all that we do at Peak, particularly when it comes to service,” he said.

“The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise mean more to us than other awards not only due to the prestige and substance, but because they are a rare example of such awards that are internationally recognised and respected globally.”
