Eriez introduces update to magnet pull test kit

Eriez has introduced the next generation of its Pull Test kit to measure magnet strength.

Upgrades include a more compact case design with separate compartments for organization and storage and the option of a digital or mechanical scale.

The digital scale with traceable calibration certification (P/N 201512425G2) is for customers in food, pharmaceutical and related industries which require calibrated scale certification for auditor purposes.

A mechanical scale (P/N 107121E) is offered for customers with less stringent requirements.

Permanent magnetic separators help draw out fine tramp metal along the production line.

Eriez said it is periodically important to test the holding force of these magnets.

While flux density (Gauss) is the standard measure, it is not practical for assessing the relative effectiveness of a magnetic separator, the firm added.

Eric Confer, product manager-separation, said while the Pull Test kits are used as a quality control device, it lists typical pull test values to guide a firm for an inspection.

“Pull test values can and will vary among separators due to a variety of magnet options. We suggest you use the kit not to verify the values listed, but to monitor your separator’s performance over time.

“Record the pull test results of your periodic inspections to evaluate any changes in magnetic performance.”

Eriez manufactures and markets products through 12 international facilities on six continents.
