Detectamet introduces metal detectable cloth

Detectamet is offering a metal detectable cloth to reduce the chances of food being sent to market contaminated with pieces of cleaning cloth.

The firm said every food producer has to clean to prevent contamination of products with bacteria but cleaning cloths can offer a further risk of physical contamination.

The Detectacloth is a dry wipe that can be used in processing areas - where undetectable cloths could be lost or discarded.

James Chrismas, managing director of Detectamet, said: “It is possible to detect the material at the critical control point of metal detection so it adds validity to a resilient HACCP management system.”

The 254mm x 305mm cloth is supplied in boxes of 100 and incorporates a blue indicator colour within the base netting of the cloth. A patent is pending on it.

Chrismas said it has been repeatedly asked for such a product at exhibitions worldwide and will be showing Detectacloth to PPMA Total visitors in September.

“The Polymeric scrubbing surface creates a multi textured abrasion and absorption effect for efficient cleaning.

“It not only helps to mitigate the risk of foreign object contamination. But it’s also a very effective cleaning cloth that can be used as a wash down cloth, or as a drying towel and for wiping spills amongst many other tasks.”
