Mérieux NutriSciences expands environmental services in Italy

Mérieux NutriSciences has acquired Theolab for an undisclosed amount to boost environmental services in Italy.

Markets addressed by Theolab are services related to monitoring environmental impact of companies, especially by testing air, soil, water or materials.

Services related to production sites environmental monitoring are part of Mérieux NutriSciences’ food safety services.

Philippe Sans, president and CEO of Mérieux NutriSciences, said Theolab brings a record of operational excellence to the organization.

The acquisition of Theolab is an excellent strategic fit as it will complete our geographical presence in Italy and expand our portfolio of environmental services.”

Theolab was bought from the founder of the company, Paolo Odesso Rossi.

Since its foundation 20 years ago, Theolab has always strived to deliver excellent service in the environmental testing market in Italy,​ said Paolo Odello Rossi, president of Theolab.

The company operates eight sites in Italy with the main laboratory in Torino and employs 150 people.

When asked if all sites and positions will be kept, Mérieux NutriSciences did not answer, only saying Theolab and its operations will be combined and operate as one company.

Theolab works with international and Italian companies such as ENI, Ilva, Golder, Sarlux and Solvay.
