Sample storage and management help from Hamilton Storage
The Verso automated sample storage system is for medium- to large-capacity storage needs from ambient to −20°C.
It includes the Verso S1 SE configuration for laboratories with ceiling heights as low as 2.4m.
Verso’s Universal Picker accommodates 96-well tubes, one dram vials, other vial types and plates, and eliminates the need to store disparate labware containers separately.
The 96-tube Picker-Puncher processes REMP 300 µL and REMP 900 µL punching tubes from Brooks Automation in addition to normal 96-format tubes for transition between labware types.
Optional Active Thawing thaws samples before retrieving, while dual internal robotics and pickers increase throughput in large, customized Verso systems.
Verso processes up to 1,500 tubes/hour and up to 170 plates/hour and integrates with Hamilton Robotics liquid handling workstations for sample processing.
Applications include drug discovery/compound management, biobanking and pharmaceuticals.
Sample management efficiency
Hamilton Storage has upgraded systems to increase efficiency during sample decapping, capping and identification.
A 6-channel head enables use of 24-well tube racks on the LabElite DeCapper and I.D. Capper in addition to 48- and 96-well tube racks.
A variety of internally or externally threaded microtubes, cryovials, and specialty tubes can be decapped and capped so labs can work with tube volumes and types appropriate for their application needs.
The LabElite I.D. Reader features ColdScan technology to scan tube racks out of a freezer without compromising sample integrity or risking identification errors.
The LabElite DeCapper/I.D. Capper and LabElite I.D. Reader are for applications such as biobanking, forensics, genomics, drug discovery and life science research.
Hamilton Storage has also introduced a low-capacity automated sample management system.
SAM HD is for labs seeking to transition from manual to automated sample storage.
Models are available for storing samples at +4°C, −20°C, −40°C and −80°C, with capacity up to 60,000 tubes in standard racks, or 86,250 tubes using RackWare racks from Hamilton Storage.
Up to six different tubes with the same diameter may be stored together to accommodate varying sample collection workflows while maintaining sample documentation and tracking.
SAM HD is for automated sample storage in biobanking, forensics, drug discovery, life science and pharmacogenomics.
