What is going on in the world of lab technology will be explored in this series of articles. Ahead of Pittcon we will explore automation and to see if mass spectrometry and gas chromatography really are making moves into food testing.

Also, are devices getting more portable with the lab going to the sample rather than the sample going to the lab?

Product inspection (29 March)

Regulations like the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act require diligence from when product enters the factory until it exits the door.

This special edition will look at metal and x-ray detection, HACCP as well as the software and technologies that can facilitate the processes and stop a costly recall

Track and Trace (24 May)

A trend or buzzword – this special edition newsletter will see what food industry companies are doing to protect their supply chains and what are the common issues in this sector.

What technology and systems are being used and how has this world changed in the past few years?

Food fraud (24 October)

Adulteration of food could be due to supply chain issues, economic motives or criminal activity. Examples include horse meat substituted for beef but most food commodities are susceptible and this has a knock-on impact on consumer confidence.

However, for industry it presents many challenges to stop and ensure traceability throughout all suppliers.
