Safe Food Alliance starts work on food safety lab
The division of DFA of California, which provides accredited lab analysis, training and consulting, and certified audits to the food sector, said the project is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
The site will employ over 100 people and more jobs will be added as business expands.
It will provide about 20,408 square feet of space for lab services that include chemical, microbiological, water testing, commodity fumigation research; expanded analytical capabilities for food testing and challenge studies for spoilage.
The complex will also have commodity inspection services for DFA and serve as a food safety training facility.
Sam Keiper, president and CEO, said the expansion will help its growing customer base.
“The food industry faces a rapidly changing regulatory environment where dynamic technological breakthroughs are constantly challenging us to expand our portfolio of expertise and competency.”
Safe Food Alliance offers accredited and certified lab services using testing equipment; food safety training and consulting services; and facility assessments and audits to achieve certification.
Mark Mariani, DFA of California chairman of the board and chairman of Mariani Packing Company, said: “Expanding our lab capabilities and food safety training program will allow the food industry and companies like mine to catch issues before the product leaves the factory.”
