Roka Bioscience has entered into a five year distribution agreement with FoodChek Systems.

The non-exclusive distribution agreement is for Actero Elite Enrichment Media and non-proprietary Actero Universal Enrichment Media.

FoodChek's Actero ELITE Enrichment Media is a recovery process of stressed organisms in the sample enrichment media phase for detection of pathogens in food and environmental samples.

Terry Macartney, EVP, operations and product development of FoodChek, said the agreement demonstrates Roka's endorsement of Actero Media.

“The time savings enabled by Actero media combined with the sensitivity of Roka's Atlas system provides increased value to testing laboratories and food processors alike. This combination can result in superior production work flow, additional product shelf life and an improved financial bottom line to all end users."

Roka’s Atlas Detection Assays are performed on its "sample-in, result-out" Atlas System that automates molecular diagnostic testing on an integrated platform.

The system can process and give results for more than 300 samples in an eight hour shift. It is manufactured by Hologic.

Assays target ribosomal RNA (rRNA) and can also detect messenger RNA (mRNA) and DNA.

By pairing the innovative enrichment media products in FoodChek's Actero Media line with the advanced detection capabilities of the Atlas system, we can further our goal to deliver industry leading accuracy and faster time-to-result for pathogen testing in the food industry," said Mary Duseau, president and CEO of Roka.
