Eurofins’ Listeria tests backed by AOAC

The real-time PCR kit, BACGene Listeria, and the BACSpec Listeria ELISA kit were backed.

BACGene Listeria kits offer detection is less than 24 hours in a single enrichment step, with a thermal lysis protocol and ready-to-use, pre-dispensed MasterMix.

BACSpec Listeria offers detection in less than two hours after enrichment and time to negative result including enrichment is 44-52 hours.

Eurofins GeneScan received AFNOR NF certification for four Listeria kits earlier this year.

Classical cultural methods for bacteria are time-intensive and laborious, said the firm.

Eurofins said food producers expect laboratories to work with methods that have been tested and recognized by international certification bodies.

BACGene Listeria Multiplex is a multiplex real-time PCR detection for Listeria spp. and Listeria monocytogenes in one reaction.

If one target is of interest, the real-time PCR kits BACGene Listeria monocytogenes and BACGene Listeria spp. can be used.

All kits are certified for food and environmental samples by AFNOR Certification as an alternative method for Listeria monocytogenes and Listeria spp. according to EN ISO 16140 and by AOAC-Research Institute under the Performance Tested Methods Program.

The certifications include MALDI-TOF as a confirmation method to decrease overall analysis time.
