A Sweden-based manufacturer of machinery tunnels used to quick-freeze bulk meat products has acquired Dutch Innotec Systems for an undisclosed sum.

OctoFrost Group has bought the 20-person strong Dutch outfit as it aims to become a bigger player in the global supply of complete individual quick-freezing food processing lines.

Ruben Larsson, founder of OctoFrost Group, said the takeover was a big step forward for both companies: “Taking over Innotec was our natural response to the needs of the market. This brings a number of advantages for food processors and the most significant one is that, from now on, there will be no further discussions [on] whom has all the responsibility [to ensure] the good operation of the complete line; it is us.”

‘Optimise’ processing

OctoFrost and Innotec Systems have worked together for a long time, installing food-processing lines around the world. Both companies were focused on thermally treating an array of food products, including meat and poultry, and the takeover now brings operations under one roof, figuratively speaking.

OctoFrost Group CEO Rasmus Larsson spoke about how the company’s acquisition of its long-time partner will both deepen and broaden the expertise in food processing application and thermal treatment.

We can now optimise the entire processing line for the best final result, highest yield, lowest energy consumption to bring the highest value to our customers. Our after-sales activities also benefit from the scale-up in the organisation, and we can be closer to our customers.”

An OctoFrost spokesperson told this site the deal was not subject to regulatory approval, as it did not interfere with EU competition laws.
