AFCO deal will create F&B business segment - Zep

Zep Inc is to purchase AFCO for an undisclosed amount with the deal expected to close in August.

AFCO will be integrated to Zep under a new food and beverage business segment, led by Mike Hinkle, the current president and CEO of AFCO.

Hinkle said Zep is an ‘excellent partner’ for AFCO due to its portfolio and global reach.

AFCO firm does sanitation and intervention programs for meat, poultry and fruit and vegetable facilities and online and on-site training programs covering chemical applications and safety, equipment operation, sanitation procedures and process and program enhancements.

It acquired J & W Whewell and Thonhauser GMBH and Thonhauser USA last year.

Zep’s portfolio includes anti-bacterial and industrial hand care products, sanitizers, cleaners, degreasers, deodorizers, disinfectants, floor finishes and pest products.

These are marketed under brand names such as Zep, Time Mist, Blue Coral and Enforcer.

Lou Purvis, CEO of Zep, said AFCO brings a track record of growth in the food and beverage industry.

“Together, the combined resources and expertise of the companies will lead to unmatched customer service, and will position the combined business for continued growth and success in its next stage of development.”
