The complex has been equipped with improved laboratories that will enable IFF to work on new and innovative products.
These new lines, along with the existing ones, are expected to help the company expand its market share in Egypt.
The plant expansion complements the company's strategy of strengthening foothold in the Middle East and Africa region, New York-based IFF said in a statement.
“The Middle East and Africa region is a critical component of our Vision 2020 strategy,” said Andreas Fibig, IFF's chairman and chief executive.
“We believe the expansion and upgrade of our Cairo facility will support our efforts to grow in this exciting and dynamic region. The expanded labs will allow us to better serve our Egyptian customers and strengthen our market presence in Africa and the Middle East.”
IFF has been working hard to strengthen its foothold in emerging nations like Egypt, where growing economies have been seen to boost demand for consumer products, and in turn, demand for flavors and fragrances used in them.
Three quarters of the company’s business now comes from outside its home market, prompting it to embark on a strategy to expand its creative and technical abilities to support customers in fast-growing markets.
IFF has a long-standing presence in Egypt. Its Cairo facility has been operational since 1979, with a sales office, creation and applications labs, and flavor production facilities.
