The provider of X-ray analytical instrumentation said the move enables it to accelerate growth in Europe and is in a high-technology location in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region.
The application development and demonstration facility has sample preparation and wet chemistry labs.
An opening ceremony was attended by Rigaku distributors in European countries.
The firm uses X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) for elemental and phase analysis in food and ingredients.
It said the need for chemical analysis of food has increased in recent years due to increased emphasis on safety, efficacy and labelling by government and industry.
Rigaku employs over 1,400 people in the manufacturing and support of its analytical equipment which is used in more than 90 countries.
