Christeyns has expanded in Spain and Portugal with the acquisition of Betelgeux.

The firm said it strengthens its position in the European market and is a step forward in geographical expansion towards Latin America.

Christeyns plans to expand facilities in Ador to double production capacity.

Christeyns is a specialist in cleaning and disinfection products in the European food industry.

Betelgeux is a Spanish producer of hygiene items for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.

Betelgeux produces over 5 million kg of industrial cleaning and disinfection products. In Spain, and via subsidiaries in Portugal and Chile, it has a consolidated turnover of more than €8.5m.

Christeyns and Betelgeux have worked together in the food hygiene market for the last few years.

Alain Bostoen, owner of Christeyns, said Betelgeux is a valuable addition to its food hygiene department.

“I am happy to welcome the complete Betelgeux team, which consists of 50 people, to the Christeyns family. Their professional know-how, market knowledge, reputation and product portfolio will help us to expand our activities and to continue shaping the Christeyns strategy.”
