Tulip Food Company acquires Baconspecialist Zandbergen
The transaction is subject to approval and forms part of Tulip Food Company’s strategy to develop its bacon business across Europe.
Baconspecialist Zandbergen, which is based in Haarlem, the Netherlands, is run by brothers Erik and Robert Zandbergen, who, along with its management team, will remain part of the business following the acquisition.
The company is currently expanding its production facilities to increase capacity in order to “fulfil future customer wishes even better”, according to the Zandbergen brothers.
“We see many great advantages and exciting synergies, because as part of Tulip Food Company our opportunities to offer an expanded and very interesting product portfolio will increase a lot and we will get even closer to our customers and consumers,” said Robert Zandbergen.
Tulip Food Company, a subsidiary of the Danish Crown Group, is one of the largest suppliers of sausages, bacon and sliced meats across Asia and Central America, as well as in Denmark.
Tulip Food Company’s CEO Kasper Lenbroch said the purchase of Zandbergen was a “big leap forward” and it aimed to develop further organic growth.
“By welcoming Baconspecialist Zandbergen as a new member of the Tulip family, we intensify one of our core competences. We get new capacity and new product opportunities like fried bacon with this very well-managed and family driven company, which is strong and very popular in the bacon market – with customers as well as consumers,” said Lenbroch.
“We will maintain and expand the forces of the company and, at the same time, ensure that Tulip's competences are incorporated to mutual benefits. All in all, we have great expectations of Baconspecialist Zandbergen, as sales of bacon products are growing across markets.”
