In its latest trading update for the half-year to 30 June 2018, it recorded a 2% year-on-year increase in volume sales of poultry which it attributed to increased exports to MENA [Middle East & North Africa], the EU, Africa and Asia.
During the first half of 2018, poultry exports increased by 9% and reached 133,564 tonnes compared to H1 2017 (123,042 tonnes). This rise in exports was part of a company strategy to improve geographic diversification and product mix optimisation. MHP’s domestic poultry sales were down 4% year-on-year.
In the second quarter of 2018, the volume of chicken meat exported by MHP was 70,145 tonnes - relatively static compared to the second-quarter 2017 volume of 71,332 tonnes.
The company’s other meat processing operations recorded a 2% year-on-year decline in volume sales, however its convenience food sales volumes for the period grew 40% year-on-year, driving overall growth for MHP.
During the period, the business also completed two major infrastructure projects at its Vinnytsia poultry site with the rearing sites and slaughterhouse of the facility becoming operational.
