‘I want Live Better to become a unicorn’: Is Chokkino the ‘new coffee’?

Start-up Live Better, the maker of Chokkino, bills its cocoa-based drink as a healthy alternative to coffee.

FoodNavigator spoke with founder Elena Luzi at Food Matters Live in London last week to find out about Chokkino’s distinctive attributes.

Luzi enthused about the health benefits of Chokkino. It contains 21 calories a serving and boasts various positive ingredient attributes. According to Live Better, Chokkino has more antioxidants than red wine, green tea and Goji berries – and more magnesium than “any other food”. Fibre accounts for 30% of its weight and protein makes up 20% of the beverage’s weight.

Live Better has big ambitions: It plans to expand beyond its home market of Italy with the aim of becoming a unicorn – valued at over $1bn – in five years.
