Plan revealed for ‘Europe’s most advanced’ poultry plant
Construction of Cranswick’s greenfield poultry processing plant is underway and will be located in Suffolk, UK. As part of the plant construction, the two businesses will install a 15,000 bph processing line as Cranswick aims to operate the “most efficient poultry process in the UK and Europe”.
Marel Poultry will supply all the machinery and technology from live bird handling to labelling. Some of the equipment installations will include ATLAS, which the business has claimed is the most advanced and humane live bird handling technology in the world.
Meanwhile, other equipment applications include its Nuova, LineLink, RoboBatcher, SensorX and Thigh Fillet System.
Marel Poultry sales and marketing director Arie Tulp said that, alongside Cranswick, it would build a “magnificent plant”.
“Cranswick management wants to achieve the highest levels of throughput, with the focus on turning out premium-quality products. With our latest developments and cutting-edge solutions, we can truly make this happen,” said Tulp.
“We have made sure that every step in the process can comfortably handle the high throughput. Cranswick will be able to process at optimum efficiency levels, while at the same time keeping full control of the highest quality standards. There will be no compromises. The configuration chosen will most definitely help Cranswick become the UK’s prime processor.”
Cranswick was recently praised for its animal welfare practices in The Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW)’s latest report. The processor achieved a tier one status – the highest grading.
