In its pre-close trading update for the three months to 31 March 2019, the business reported a 13% growth in overall production volumes of chicken meat compared to the same period in 2018. This comes after MHP commissioned additional rearing sites at Vinnytsia which are expected to boost capacity by 15% in 2019.
MHP’s poultry exports also saw a massive growth over the period, rising 47% year-on-year. This is a result of its export strategy which has been focusing on growing sales in MENA and the EU.
The business recently spoke to GlobalMeatNews about its international strategy.
MHP’s sales of chicken meat to third parties in Q1 2019 increased by 21% and constituted 164,004 tonnes of chicken meat compared to 135,307 tonnes in Q1 2018 as a result of significant increase of exports. Domestic sales volumes remained stable year-on-year.
During the period, MHP also completed a deal to acquire international meat processing business Perutnina Ptuj.
