Founder Tom Curle noted demand from customers who want to buy the drinks without waiting a day for delivery. He said: "We decided to launch in Manchester first as we have created strong brand awareness and customer demand here, we will shortly be launching in Wilmslow and Liverpool, and following that we are now actively scouting locations in London, the COVID-19 lockdown has seen a change in customer behaviour, with many customers choosing to order from home rather than going to retail outlets, and Deliveroo was the perfect way for us to achieve this.”

UK premium juice brand Coldpress has launched an orange drink with added fortified vitamins (B,D & E).

According to Coldpress founder, Andrew Gibb, "Whilst some believe that quirky flavour marriages & odd colourings (e.g. spirulina blue) is what defines a market pioneer, we’ve always believed that a true ‘juice leader’ is a range that not only get the basics more right that anyone else (the best HPP orange, the best HPP apple…) but works relentlessly to support today’s increasingly hectic lifestyles, whilst providing ever more reasons to reconsider juice.’

With a strong presence in Co-op, Ocado and NISA and regular promotional smoothie pushes in Lidl, Coldpress is ecstatic to be returning a new improved Coldpress Valencian Orange back to its ‘spiritual home Waitrose’, next to Coldpress Pink Lady.

Pukka Just For Two range

UK pie brand Pukka has launched new Just For Two sharing pies with Steak & Red Wine, Chicken, Ham & Leek and Vintage Cheddar & Leek variants.

It said the range is designed for two people to share and looks to target shoppers seeking something a little more special.

Rachel Cranston, Head of Marketing at Pukka said: “We’ve found that sharing pies can sometimes cause confusion amongst shoppers around how many people should be tucking in. That’s why we’ve made it clear that these pies are meant for two people to enjoy – through the name of the range, an on-pack ‘New for 2’ flash and novel illustrations to demonstrate ways the pies can be split – whether that be a nice and precise 50:50, or a bigger slice 75:25!

“The offering also uses premium ingredients, unlocking a new sales opportunity amongst those wanting a convenient and tasty sharing dinner option which feels a little more special."

The launch follows hot on the heels of Pukka announcing its new Vegan range of pies – the brand’s first step into the plant-based market.

The Pukka Just For Two range will hit Sainsbury’s shelves from 23rd September, followed by Morrisons on 12th October, for an RRP of £3 and continue to roll-out into supermarkets nationwide throughout the rest of the year.

Norwegian Seafood Council partners with UK retail to champion sustainable seafood

The Norwegian Seafood Council has announced new sustainable seafood partnerships with Waitrose and Asda, which will celebrate a variety of sustainable frozen and chilled Norwegian seafood products in their stores and online shopping platforms across the country.

The partnership with Waitrose, which will run from October to mid-November, will seek to increase consideration of its high-quality frozen fish with their own label frozen, MSC certified sustainable, cod, haddock (smoked and natural) and halibut fillets from Norway.

The Asda partnership, which will run in October, will focus on their own label chilled range of MSC certified cod and haddock (natural and smoked), sustainably harvested from Norwegian waters.

The Norwegian Seafood Council has been chosen as a partner due to the reputation of Seafood from Norway as the most sustainable seafood in the world. The aim of the partnerships is to increase awareness for the origin of sustainably sourced seafood and ultimately to encourage the purchase of more sustainable whitefish in UK supermarkets.

The partnerships aim to capture a newly captive post COVID-19 audience, who are increasingly conscious of the sustainability of food they purchase in supermarkets. In a study conducted in April by FMCG Gurus it was found that 59% of consumers have said that they have become more conscious about their overall health and according to a survey conducted by GlobalScan over half of consumers said they were willing to pay more for a certified sustainable seafood product.

Hans Frode Kielland Asmyhr, UK Director of the Norwegian Seafood Council said: “We are thrilled with these new partnerships. Norway has always been committed to producing the most sustainable and healthy seafood products and the Norwegian seafood industry can guarantee that the seafood we carefully harvest and supply to the UK will be of the highest quality and sustainably sourced.”
