Cow & Gate launch range with A2 protein milk

Danone-owned Cow & Gate is rolling out a range of products made with A2 protein milk from next month.

The milk comes from ‘carefully selected cows’ that naturally produce only the A2 beta-casein protein, according to Cow & Gate.

“Interest in A2 protein milk has been rapidly growing around the world in recent years; it’s a trend that is transforming the entire dairy industry and has most recently been shaking up the formula milk market globally, with seven A2 protein formula milks launched in the last six months worldwide,” said UK Consumer Marketing Director for Danone Specialised Nutrition Sarah Cumming.

“Inspired by nature and our knowledge of breastmilk, we’re proud to be the first to bring this innovation, which has been simply made for little tummies with milk sourced from cows that naturally produce A2 protein milk, to major UK retailers. It is a clear opportunity for retailers to cater to consumer interest and tap into a global trend.”

Cow & Milk’s new line comes in 8—g packs, covering all three stages of baby feeding, from birth to toddlerhood.

The RRP for Cow & Gate Simply A2 First Infant Milk & Follow-On Milk is £9.99 and the RRP for Toddler Milk is £9.50.

Purition adds banana flavour to range
Purition adds banana flavour to range

Nutrition brand Purition is adding a new flavour to its range of ‘meals in a glass’.

According to Purition co-founder Edward Taylor, the decision to add the banana flavour came from the fruit’s popularity – in the UK, consumers eat on average 10kg of bananas per year – and nutritional profile.

“My primary motivation was a growing concern that a large number of our customers were adding a banana to their daily shake. Whilst undeniably delicious, this was leading to the addition of significant ‘free sugars’ that are counter-productive to those using our range for weight loss.

“Eye-opening stats show that even a medium sized banana packs around 29g carbs (including 15g sugar) whilst our discreetly sweet, light and creamy shake provides a welcome banana fix with less than 5g carbs (including 2g of sugar).”

Purition’s range is available D2C or via Amazon, Ocado, Selfridges, Morrisons, Holland & Barrett, and Boots.

In the UK, The Collective has rolled out a new range of dairy free yoghurt alternatives.

The new Plant range is made from a blend of oats, coconut and rice, and available in four flavours: Natural, Raspberry, Passionfruit, and Fudge.

According to the company, the line is the product of two years’ R&D. Just like its dairy products, the Plant range is sold in yoghurt pots made from 100% recycled content. Its lids can also be fully recycled.

“We are so excited to launch our new dairy free Plant products as we look towards the future with consumers’ health and sustainability needs in mind. This is our biggest launch since we hit shelves in the UK almost 10 years ago,” said The Collective’s general manager Sarah Smart.
