UK gourmet brownie company Bad Brownie has introduced what it calls this festive season’s must-have stocking filler: a giant half-kilo Ferrero Rocher.
“The giant Brownie-fied interpretation of this iconic Italian chocolate sees a single Ferrero Rocher nestled inside a satisfyingly crispy layer of Nutella-flavoured milk chocolate wafer,” the company announced. “This is then wrapped around Bad Brownie’s signature fudgy brownie, which has been mixed with handfuls of caramelised hazelnuts for just a little dabble of crunch coupled with crispy layer of hazelnut praline.
"The finishing touch sees the rich treat dipped into a silky smooth layer of creamy milk chocolate, before being topped with a fine golden dust to mimic the lustrous look of a Ferrero Rocher’s metallic foil wrap.”
The Giant Ferrero Rocher-inspired brownie is an online exclusive.

Swedish company UniCup Scandinavia AB has claimed to have created an entirely new bio-based lid made of spruce and pine. The “Liplid” is placed inside, rather than on, the cup, and improves the stability and drinking experience of on-the-go beverages.
“We have developed an environmentally friendly lid that sits inside the cup. This improves the cup’s stability and the overall drinking experience,” said UniCup Scandinavia founders Lars Bendix and Håkan Löfholm. “You drink from the rim of the cup instead of the lid, so you don’t burn yourself and it doesn’t taste like plastic or paper. The coffee tastes just like it does in your coffee cup at home.”
The lid is claimed to be eco-friendly, 100% recyclable with excellent functionality. It is made from bio-based fiber material from Swedish raw materials: spruce and pine. Manufactured through a globally unique Dry Molded Fiber process, the pair claimed the lid is also extremely stable and sustainable. Due to the lid’s design, 25% less material is required for production.
“We are already seeing that there’s a large market for Liplid. We are in contact with major chains that are very interested in purchasing the lid,” said Jesper Berthold, CEO of UniCup Scandinavia AB, Liplid’s producer.
Liplid is developed by UniCup Scandinavia AB in collaboration with the Research Institute of Sweden. The lid will be manufactured in Sweden.

France-based Hello Joya has launched an organic hemp-based meat alternative.
The company called the innovation “an excellent alternative to meat that allows you to fill up on vegetable proteins without neglecting taste”.
The Hello Joya vegetable slices are made from organic hemp seeds and proteins and grown in France.
The company claimed hemp is gradually establishing itself as a key ingredient in our future diet. Considered a "super-food" thanks to its contributions in omega 3 and minerals, it also boasts environmental benefits. The plant is resilient, very resistant to drought, requires little water and does not require fertilizers or chemicals to grow, the company said.

UK company Borna Foods has unveiled a range of pistachio milks to bring “gastronomic allure” from the “king of nuts” to the category.
Borna Foods said its lightly sweetened and unsweetened pistachio milks (500ml) come complete with added B12 and calcium (from natural sources).
It said that although historically deemed too pricey for “the UK’s increasingly avant-garde alternative milk fixture, it soon came clear that for nut milks to return to the dizzy heights of yesteryear that they needed to pin their hopes on a nut brimming with gastronomic allure, to create a dense, velvety-textured nut drink that’s low in calories yet high in fibre and good nutrition.”
This November sees Borna Pistachio milks make their debut in Amazon & Ocado, leaning on the business’s “proud health food wholesaler pedigree to reclaim the alternative milk fixtures of major mults, food halls and discerning independent stores”.
