Challenger baby food brand Piccolo, which offers a range of intolerance-friendly products, has introduced a gluten free pasta product.
The rice-based gluten free pasta is designed to melt once cooked. Suitable for ages 6 months and over, Piccolo said the pasta is a great choice for parents exploring new textures in the early stages of their babies’ weaning journeys.
Infant nutritionist and Piccolo co-founder, Alice Fotheringham, said: “With the rise in awareness surrounding food intolerances, it’s important that Piccolo offers parents an inclusive range of products. Mealtimes aren’t always smooth sailing, so having a balance of accessible and intolerance-friendly products gives parents everything they need to cook easy meals from scratch with confidence.”
Cat Gazzoli, Piccolo founder, added: “As a mum of two, I know how difficult it can be to spot signs of intolerances early on! I’m also aware of the wide range of diets different parents choose for their families. That’s why I wanted to add a gluten free pasta option to our existing cooking range, so parents can have suitable options for their baby’s feeding journey.”

UK food tech start-up WNWN Food Labs has developed what it claims is the world’s first cacao-free chocolate, designed to address ‘critical’ problems in traditional chocolate supply chains. By eliminating cacao, the company says the product is child/slave labour-free, deforestation-free, palm oil-free, and releases 80% fewer CO2 emissions than chocolate.
“The flavor profile of chocolate can include hundreds of different compounds that come from fermenting and roasting cacao beans, and we can achieve this using other ingredients that are sustainable and ethical,” said WNWN CTO Dr. Johnny Drain. “We’re not anti-chocolate, we’re anti-Big Choc, because the industry must be challenged to do better for the planet and the people whose labor it profits from.”

European breakfast start-up Crispy Fantasy has officially launched on Amazon with a line of cereal products that it claims offer a ‘clean ingredients profile that helps everyday consumers power through the day’.
The brand aims to fill the market gap between healthy oats and sugary cereals, said co-founders Andrea Rodrik and Raphaël Nahoum.
Containing 8g of plant-based protein and high fibre per serving, the product delivers crunchy cereal texture and classic indulgent flavour profile that appeal to the mass market, the company claimed.
Crispy Fantasy is backed by a group of entrepreneurs in the food and beverage sector, including Halo Top Co-Founder and CEO, Doug Bouton; Peter Rahal, who previously built and sold RXBar to Kellogg’s; and investment fund Pareto Holdings.
"Crispy Fantasy already has accomplished the hardest thing: creating a mind-blowingly great product. I've tasted the other 'healthy' cereals and Crispy Fantasy's product blows all of them away; it's truly the 'Halo Top' of cereal," said Doug Bouton. "Halo Top is sold in more than 30 countries, and I'm incredibly excited to partner with Crispy Fantasy as an investor and advisor to help them build a global brand anchored by mind-blowingly great products."
