UK snack brand House of Macadamias has announced the nationwide launch of its chocolate coconut, salted caramel & dark chocolate macadamia nut bars at the retailers WH Smiths, Planet Organic & Partridges.
Co-owner Brandon Hiemstra said: “The low calorie, high protein nature of these 100% natural, plant-based bars means that they’re perfectly suited to provide a timely on-the-go energy boost, a mood enhancing high or a well-deserved wholesome timeout means that that they appeal to both ardent snackers and specialist diet advocates (keto, vegan, paleo…).
“As a transparent brand that makes no bones about the fact that macadamias will always be the first name on our ingredient decks (between 45-98% content), we are equally clear that will never denigrate their discerning reputation or our wider wellness focus by surrounding them with refined sugar, cheap fillers or any synthetic nasties.”

Plant-based milk brand Lilk which ‘blends the best grains and seeds to create great tasting drinks’, has landed two new national listings at Waitrose and Holland & Barrett stores in the UK, following its launch onto Ocado earlier this year.
Lilk’s two blends are designed to be “all purpose and extremely versatile, making them highly appealing to shoppers who are both committed vegans and the growing market of flexitarians who want to incorporate more plant-based options into their diets”, the brand said.
Lilk’s Common Blend (RRP £1.99) is a combination of oat and rice, while the Lush Blend (RRP £2.25) uses oat, coconut, and quinoa extract.
Co-founder Emily Hayes said: “We started blending different grains in our kitchen during lockdown and we’re proud to be paving the way to move the market away from the traditional single-ingredient model. There’s yet more growth to come for Lilk, with some very exciting distribution expansion later this year, and new delicious products hitting the shelves in H2.”
Holland & Barrett’s Client Manager Sian McDermott said: “The category is seeing incredible innovation from young start-ups. Lilk's novel use of blends to achieve taste is certainly in line with a powerful flexitarian macro-trend: shoppers are demanding plant-based products that taste, look, feel and perform the part. I'm very excited to see Lilk launch in stores nationwide.”

Plant-based energy drink company Go Mate has launched what it calls the world’s first ever all-natural drinks system. Designed to help the e-sports community power up and power down, its active ingredients do not cause the massive energy crashes energy drinks often bring about, the brand claimed.
Go Mate uses a blend of nootropics and an ancient infusion of antioxidants and nutrients in the form of Yerba Mate – bringing holistic energy to those who want to up their game.
Working hand-in-hand with Argentinian soccer legend and active streamer Sergio Agüero, leading Danish esports organisation Astralis, Go Mate is aiming to challenge the negative perceptions that are often associated with over-consumption of energy drinks, using ingredients that promote wellbeing and a more balanced approach to energy.
Speaking of the launch, Sergio Aguero (Chief Visionary Officer) said: “As the esports and the competitive gaming sector continues to grow, it’s key that we help gamers to thrive and, put simply, energy drinks which contain high amounts of caffeine and taurine don’t do that. We want to set a precedent where brain-boosting drinks have the ability to both pep up and calm down gamers, and the use of nootropics means that we are perfectly positioned to do that. We are thrilled that partners such as Astralis are supporting our ambition and commitment to the industry.”
