Bio&Me launch gut-friendly flapjacks
Bio&Me launch gut-friendly flapjacks

Co-founded by The Gut Health Doctor, Dr Megan Rossi, Bio&Me is launching a range of gut-friendly flapjack bars aimed at shaking up the cereal bar aisle.

Available in Toffee Apple, Superberry and Cocoa Hazelnut flavours, the range was created following a customer survey, where 91% of respondents favoured bars when asked which gut-loving product they’d like the brand to produce. The gut-loving trio of bars are high in fibre, gluten free and contain no added sugar.

“Here at Bio&Me, we’re on a mission to make good health deliciously easy. Bars are typically laden with added sugars, including popular bars marked as ‘healthier’. These tend to use exotic sounding names such as ‘coconut sugar’ and ‘brown rice syrup’ to disguise that they contain added sugars – but according to the science, irrespective of the source, they are still treated like standard sugar in our body. There hasn’t been one that I, as a gut health specialist, have been really impressed by, so it was a no-brainer to work our Bio&Me magic and create this trio of great-tasting flapjack bars to help widen consumers’ healthier snacking repertoires. We hope consumers enjoy them as much as we enjoyed creating them,” said Dr Megan Rossi.

“We wanted to create an unparalleled everyday snack that stood head and shoulders above the rest of the competition, and we believe these new flapjack bars do exactly that. Now more than ever, consumers are looking at what’s actually in the food they’re eating, and for us, as a credible, science-backed brand, it was important for these bars to be the absolute best. And as well as being requested by consumers, we actually had several retailers ask for Bio&Me bars too. We’re beyond grateful to have the belief and support of both Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, and we can’t wait to extend Bio&Me’s relevance to a whole host of new consumers who are hungry for compelling and delicious convenient bar formats,” added Jon Walsh, co-founder and CEO of Bio&Me.

The bars will be available to by from Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose from the beginning of April.

Yum Bug and STOCKED give insects a ready-meal makeover
Yum Bug and STOCKED give insects a ready-meal makeover

Do not adjust your sets, we are talking about edible insects. This might not be for you but if you’re interested in this little-explored protein source then read on…

Cricket meat company, Yum Bug is collaborating with STOCKED to launch a range of ready meals, making this sustainable food source super convenient.

Founded by designer Leo Taylor and entomologist Aaron Thomas, Yum Bug is bringing edible insects to the masses.

“We're on a mission to create a more sustainable food system by showing people bugs are really just delicious food. By partnering with STOCKED to create the new Chilli con Cricket, people now have the perfect way to try crickets at home in a quick, sustainable and delicious meal,” said Leo Taylor, CEO and co-founder of Yum Bug.

“STOCKED was born out of a hatred of waste. Our innovative packaging is a way to fit more food in less packaging and our Blocks allow people to choose their own portions. This means busy foodies can eat what's right for them each time and limit what ends up in the bin. Our customers care about the planet too, so we always have an eye out for innovative brands that are doing their bit to make our food system more sustainable. Then, along came Yum Bug! Our collaboration with Yum Bug is all about introducing our customers to a new source of protein in a dish they love, and hopefully introducing a few bug-lovers to the beauty of Blocks as well,” added Sam Moss, co-founder of STOCKED.

The limited-edition “Chilli con Cricket” is available online now.
