Givaudan Kitchen Ingredients – meeting consumer demand for clear and clean labelling

“Naturalness” is one of the most important drivers of purchase and consumption and it is also one of the key factors consumers identify that makes a product trustworthy. Today’s consumers want natural, recognisable ingredients and won’t compromise on taste.

Givaudan has a long-standing heritage in natural ingredients – providing great tasting solutions from real food ingredients since 1907. This depth of expertise means our Kitchen Ingredients help you offer the best of all worlds: great tasting, natural ingredients that keep labels simple and short – and your consumers happy.

Taken together, our years of know-how and expertise enable us to deliver tailored, customer-specific solutions that work.

We use the kitchen and well-established cooking techniques as inspiration for new natural processes and culinary innovation. Our Kitchen Ingredients portfolio is a result of this approach, supported by the culinary knowledge of our chefs and the world-renowned external chefs and other partners with whom we collaborate. Our recent acquisitions of Spicetec, Activ International and Vika have provided us with additional, powerful conceptual, technical and regulatory expertise in the Kitchen Ingredients space, with our Centroflora Nutra and Naturex acquisitions further complementing our offer.

Culinary concepts such as Mirepoix and Sofrito – Drawing inspiration from renowned culinary concepts and applying our expertise and creativity we make Kitchen Ingredients that consumers will love.

A mirepoix is a flavour base made from diced vegetables that are cooked, usually with butter, oil or other fat, for a long time on a low heat without colour or browning. It is not sautéed or otherwise hard cooked because the intention is to sweeten the ingredients rather than caramelise them. Usually the vegetable mixture is onions, carrots, and celery, with the traditional ratio being 2:1:1, two parts onion, one part carrot, and one part celery.

Sofrito is a sauce used as a base in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Latin American cooking. Preparations may vary, but it typically consists of aromatic ingredients cut into small pieces and sautéed or braised in cooking oil. In Spanish cuisine, sofrito consists of garlic, onion, peppers, and tomatoes cooked in olive oil. This is known as refogado, sufrito in Portuguese-speaking nations, where only onions and olive oil are often essential, garlic and bay laurel leaves being the other most common ingredients.

But it isn’t all about vegetable-based natural ingredients. We also work to bring you the best solutions from nature in meat and poultry ingredients, to provide culinary authenticity and taste which will help you to meet the labelling needs for your brand and consumer target.

We are committed to integrity and reliability, so you can be confident about your kitchen ingredient labelling, and we take a proactive approach to regulatory understanding and supporting you in your market.

Our Kitchen Ingredients offer great taste, transparency, natural processing and the trust and confidence in meeting the needs for your brand.
