At Marlow Ingredients, we believe the food we eat should be 100% delicious, nourish our bodies and support the health of our planet.
Our founders developed mycoprotein in the 1960s and we have been producing it at our current site in the North of England for nearly 40 years. We have decades of data and scientific research to back up why we can provide one of the best protein sources in the world. Mycoprotein is a sustainable, nutritious protein source, that does not compromise on texture'. What’s more it has a neutral taste that takes on flavour, which makes it a very versatile ingredient.
Part of the fungi family, mycoprotein is high in protein and provides all nine essential amino acids, is low in saturated fat and contains no cholesterol, is high in fibre, and is a good source of vitamins and minerals. Producing our mycoprotein uses at least 60% less land,70% less water and emits at least 70% fewer greenhouse gas emissions than traditional meat-based proteins.
Our mycoprotein is cultivated in 40-metre-high fermenters, here at Marlow Ingredients we are literally growing high quality protein in the sky using the ancient art of fermentation. This method of production has been rated as a more environmentally friendly alternative to animal protein by the Carbon Trust.
We recognise the urgent need for humanity to eat more healthily and sustainably. Our mission is to become a net positive business by 2030 and, in that year, help provide 8 billion servings of healthy and sustainable food, one for every person on the planet.
