Polybind, a European project to investigate the benefits of polyphenols on colon health has received funding under the Fifth Framework Programme. The program gathers together scientists from all over Europe and aims to obtain urgently needed data to permit a risk-benefit analysis of the significance of dietary polyphenols in the modulation of colon cancer. And in addition, whether there might be a justification for dietary modification, the production of supplements, or novel foods. Colon cancer currently kills 75,000 Europeans per year.
