US food giant Sara Lee Corp. on Thursday said it is voluntarily recalling about 13,600 pounds of Sara Lee and Quality Packing sliced, packaged lunch meats because the products may contain the Salmonella bacteria. The Cincinnati-based company said it is taking this immediate action as a result of a single reported illness. Only the following products with these specific codes are affected by the recall: Sara Lee Cajun Style Beef (SKU 16649), Sara Lee Roast Beef (SKU 16683), Sara Lee Brown Sugar Ham (SKU 16688), Quality Packing Co. Cajun Style Beef Fully Cooked, Quality Packing Co. Sliced USDA Choice Roast Beef. No other code dates or varieties are affected by the recall. Since the products have a "sell by" date of June 27 or July 4, most should already have been consumed or thrown away, the company said. The company has set up a toll-free information line at (800) 323-7117 for consumers' questions, and urged anyone who still has the nominated products to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
