FMC BioPolymer raises global hydrocolloid prices by up to 15%
Global prices for a range of hydrocolloids, including microcrystalline cellulose, carrageenan, alginate products and other gums, have been raised by up to 15% by FMC BioPolymer.

“Each year we dedicate significant resources to identifying and implementing productivity improvements to reduce the impact of rising raw material and other input costs,” said Mary Clarke, general manager, Food Ingredients.

“However, continued cost increases in raw materials and energy make this pricing action necessary.”

The global price increases are up to 15 percent or as contract terms permit in food, personal care and other market segments, said the company.

Other hydrocolloid suppliers have also announced price increases in the same range recently, as companies respond to similar challenges.

FMC BioPolymer is the leading producer of alginates, carrageenan and microcrystalline cellulose.
