FMC Corporation acquires pectin IP from Vigido AG

FMC Corporation acquires pectin IP from Vigido AG
FMC Corporation has acquired the pectin-related intellectual property developed by Vigido AG, the company has said.

Vigido is a subsidiary of UniPektin Ingredients AG and the former exclusive marketer Pectine Italia’s pectin products. FMC acquired Pectine Italia last year, and Vigido products previously marketed under the brand name Vidopectine will now be available from FMC BioPolymer.

"This acquisition enriches our expertise and capabilities in natural-based food ingredients," said Mary Clarke, general manager of Food Ingredients at FMC BioPolymer.

The company said that adding Vigido to FMC’s pectin business will help in developing low pH food applications and give it easier access applications for the pectin produced in its Milazzo pectin facility in Italy.
