UK company Cornelius Group has announced plans to launch a new business arm in Scandinavia, with a view to flexing its muscles in a region of potential growth for the company.

The business is a manufacturer and distributor of speciality chemicals, raw materials and ingredients used in a range of sectors, including health, nutrition, meat, baking and drinks.

Cornelius Nordic ApS – as the new company will be called – will have its headquarters in the Danish city of Silkeborg. And the company’s position in Scandinavia will enable it to boost its reach to Finland and Iceland, according to a statement from the business.

“The Cornelius health and nutrition business has grown steadily throughout Europe during the past decade,” said Per Rehné, Cornelius group director for health and nutrition Europe, on Tuesday 21 March.

“An increase in customers and partners in the Nordic region means it makes good business sense to be based where they are and ensures we maintain a competitive edge. We like to engage our customers as much as possible when it comes to developing and securing supplies of new products so being close to them geographically will help us do this more effectively.”

“The new Nordic business will have the main focus on serving our customers in the health and nutrition sector but given time and opportunity, other sectors might be part of the future.”

In the health and nutrition vertical for the company, Cornelius produces a range of ingredients, including colours, enzymes, fats and oils, flavours, proteins and fibres.

Cornelius Group offers a range of food solutions to a number of markets including the UK, Ireland, France and Poland. It also has sourcing offices as far afield as China and India.
