Wegmans is to upgrade its’ existing SureCheck food safety system to SureCheck Advantage for all 95 stores.

ParTech’s SureCheck Advantage platform has an automated temperature probe, barcode scanner and RFID infrared temperature reader and will replace Wegmans' Motorola MC-55 handheld devices used with the earlier version of PAR's Temperature Measuring Device (TMD).

Wegmans decided to do the upgrade, which consists of 885 SureCheck Advantage units, based on the all-in-one capabilities.

The Wegmans food safety department took up PAR SureCheck after launch in November 2015, replacing paper and pencil recording methods that were used.

Tom Adams, food safety coordinator at Wegmans, said it was a ‘key tool’ in day-to-day operation.

“SureCheck Advantage has provided a 15-25% improvement in operational efficiency, and the cloud-based online reporting saves time and money from our original paper recording process.”

ParTech said SureCheck assures Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) compliance and improves operational efficiencies by up to 60% compared to traditional pen and paper.

The handheld hardware device, designed for food quality and task management, is powered by Intel Atom Processor technology.

The Software-as-a-Service model (SaaS) and cloud-based enterprise server captures data in real-time and synchronizes it to the SureCheck cloud for storage and recall of records for management, maintenance, analytics and auditing.

John W. Sammon III, SVP and general manager at ParTech, said Wegmans leads the grocery industry.

The adoption of the SureCheck Advantage is yet another example of their unending commitment to quality and food safety. PAR's all-in-one solution enhances the culture of excellence for Wegmans employees and customers.”
