Anritsu and Peco InspX launch systems at Pack Expo
Anritsu will expand its XR75 X-Ray Performance line to include the entry level XR74e Economy X-Ray for small- to mid-sized businesses.
The firm said the move was in response to increased industry demand for reliable X-ray technology.
The machine occupies a 55-inch footprint with integrated reject and is available as a standalone or integrated system for packaged products applications like snacks or cereal.
Rob Tiernay, director of sales, said typically it can ship within two weeks.
“This new detection system helps bridge the gap between metal detectors and X-ray systems, offering an affordable protection system to mid-sized and smaller firms who still need to maintain high standards for detection.”
Meanwhile, Peco InspX will introduce SHIELD at the trade show from November 6-9 in McCormick Place.
SHIELD is a line of product inspection stations that combines X-ray technology and cloud-based algorithms that the firm claims delivers more accurate inspection and greater insight into product quality.
By capturing and analyzing each product image, the systems can identify contaminants as small as 0.3 mm and the algorithms can ensure proper seal, content levels and packaging defects are spotted.
Rich Cisek, president and COO of Peco InspX, said the threat of food contamination has become mainstream as contaminants, tampering and disease have hit the headlines and crippled major companies.
“If you watch the news, you know that too many serious product recalls have happened from processes where inspection equipment was being used. SHIELD lowers the chance of defective product being released to as close to zero as possible.”
