Agro-industrial firm MHP has opened a new processing facility in Slovakia as the company aims to increase meat sales to the European Union (EU).

In a short statement, the company said its new cutting facility in Slovakia gave the firm “tighter control” over the quality of products and services delivered to highly valued customers in the EU.

When fully complete, the company expects its capital investment in the processing of chicken meat in Slovakia to reach around $3m.

The company added its expansion in Slovakia gave MHP “an opportunity to provide our European customers not only with commodity products, but also packaged ones for foodservice”.

It is not clear where in Slovakia the meat processing facility is geographically based.

The company was unable to provide comment at the time of writing.
