Sample6 to focus on food safety software
Sample6 said the divestment allows it to focus on its CONTROL food safety software.
Sample6 DETECT was developed to help processors identify points of Listeria and Salmonella contamination on-site and in-shift to reduce food safety risks.
It is capable of enrichment-free detection and can find 1CFU/ml in four hours.
The bioillumination platform was developed by Professor Tim Lu (MIT) and Dr Michael Koeris at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Boston University.
Dr Koeris, Sample6 founder and CEO, said IEH will further commercialize the bioillumination technology and DETECT platform.
"IEH's resources and reach will allow for a more rapid deployment of the groundbreaking in-shift, on-site technology, as well as the successful launch of the high-throughput platform into the central and 3rd party laboratory market worldwide."
IEH, through its wholly owned subsidiary Phage Diagnostics, will make the DETECT technology available in all of the food safety market.
The firm combines consulting with accredited testing labs to provide services in food, pharmaceutical and environmental safety. It has more than 95 national and international locations.
"Sample6 technology allows us to offer, for the first time, Listeria finished product testing in under 15 hours from start to finish to the food industry," said Dr Mansour Samadpour, IEH principal.
